Who and why proposed a 500 million tögrög bribe to Enkhbayr when he was PM? Why has he refused to disclose the identity of the criminal? Possible charges on obstruction of justice, corruption.

2. Appointment of his own wife to the General Intelligence Agency, bypassing all normal placement procedures. Charges on misuse of office, nepotism.

Now that he presumably can't send people to prison anymore, there would be more stuff coming out about his last 9 years of rule I suppose. But I don't know. Sending him on trial is like sending the whole political and social system of Mongolia of past 9 years on trial. Is there anyone left to throw the first stone?

Re: Happenings

question of whether Elbegdorj will get along with MPRP dominated government and parliament is still dubious... Elbegdorj is not a good team player..... He was blamed for making decisions on behalf of the party by himself in the past..... His role during last year's riot is controversial. I have always voted for MPRP and big fan of of our PM Bayar.

Elbegdorj's stance on distributing proceeds of mining is castle-in-the air. You foreigners don't know much about Mongolian politics.. At least 48% of the 1,6 milion voters voted for Enkhbayar... Justice, , corruption and bad officials who exploit poor are eternal topics public never gets bored of..... His PR team was wise to play with these ideas. His action platform still lacks concrete to-do list. You guys have to read under the lines. Elbegdorj knows very wellwhat to say and when....

Enkhbayar, poor guy. I'm happy for him that he is leaving. He was like a bad guy which were blamed for most of bad things occurred in Mongolia. However, his misdeeds were never proven. I read that some of readers of this blog is calling to try him in court. I would like to ask them on what ground do you want to try him? Based on allegations of tabloids newspapers who publish anything to catch attention of readers?
Or is from notion of top guy must be blamed for all bad things?

I always doubted election rigging claim by Elbegdorj... I have never seen somebody handing cash to buy a vote. I have encounted some people who said this and when i asked them what is name of recepient of such cash offer, they decline to pinpoint specific person.

Re: Happenings

Enkhbayar was also populist leader... he promised free education and blah blah. 100% of mongolian politicians are populists. Don't you think so?

Elbegdorj also said "we can say no to foreign investors" couple of times in the past. I don't know the context of why Elbegdorj said so... Maybe to please gathered crowds!

Re: Happenings

Well, English media does not pick up anti-foreign and populist calls of Elbegdorj seemingly.... For instance, Elbegdorj once said IMF must go. I may be wrong here. I don't know what anti-foreign means here.... They have to define this.
Almost all of our politicians are politicians who promise various handouts to people... I would not just single out Elbegdorj....

Re: Happenings

People like us won't have a fair chance until people like him stand a just trial and accept the rule of law. I for my part want to neither give nor take bribes when I move back home this autumn and get on with my life in Mgl.

Re: Happenings

The analysts are quoted by Reuters, for example.
